Nancy Wilgenbusch Scholarship for Ethical Leadership

The Board of Trustees of Marylhurst University is proud to establish the Nancy Wilgenbusch Scholarship for Ethical Leadership. The scholarship is named in honor of Dr. Nancy Wilgenbusch, who served as Marylhurst University's President from 1984 to 2008. Nancy credits the Wilgenbusch family of Iowa farmers and educators with instilling in her the values of hard work, honesty and personal responsibility. Dr. Nancy Wilgenbusch's career in nursing and higher education has demonstrated the highest commitment to ethical service, leadership and personal integrity.
The Nancy Wilgenbusch Scholarship for Ethical Leadership is established as a perpetual endowment, where a portion of the market value will be used to fund scholarships. Scholarships will be awarded each year to undergraduate students at Marylhurst University who have demonstrated both financial need and a commitment in their lives and their work to service, leadership, integrity and high ethical standards. Awards will be at the highest level for Marylhurst scholarships and may be renewed based on academic excellence and demonstration of ongoing commitment to ethical leadership.
For 24 years Nancy Wilgenbusch has upheld the mission and traditions of the Sisters of the Holy Names, who are the founders of Marylhurst University. The goal of the scholarship is to provide educational opportunities and strive to build new lives for those who seek educational excellence. By way of this scholarship, students in need of financial assistance are able to access an education at Marylhurst which ultimately can be a life-changing experience.
