Apply for Federal Stafford Loans (Subsidized and Unsubsidized)
If you are eligible for a Federal Stafford Loan, the amount you are eligible to borrow will be listed on your financial aid award letter.
1. Return your completed Loan Confirmation Form to the Financial Aid Office, indicating the amount of Stafford loan funds you wish to borrow.
2. Complete Federal Stafford Loan Entrance Counseling.
Federal regulations regarding the student loan program require that, prior to receiving loan funds, all borrowers complete an entrance loan counseling session which explains borrowers' rights and responsibilities.

When you have completed the session, an electronic confirmation will be sent to the Marylhurst University Office of Financial Aid.
2. Complete and sign a Federal Stafford Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN).
The MPN is a binding legal document that you sign to indicate your commitment to repay your student loans.
In order to complete and sign your Stafford Loan MPN, you will need to select a lender. Although you may borrow through any lender you choose, you can access a list of commonly used lenders provided by our office by clicking the link below:

You do not need to notify our office when you are finished. We will be notified electronically when your promissory note is complete.
