July 29, 2008Marylhurst University marks its beginnings from this date in 1893 when the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary were granted a charter by the State of Oregon to grant baccalaureate degrees.
Marylhurst University was first known as St. Mary's College and was located in downtown Portland. In 1930, the institution was renamed Marylhurst College with the move to its present campus.
In 1998, Marylhurst University received its university designation. Today, Marylhurst celebrates its 115th year.
