Art Therapy Counseling
Preparatory Undergraduate Programs

Applicants to the MA in Art Therapy Counseling program must meet several requirements, including a bachelor's degree with a minimum of 27 credits in art and 18 credits in psychology. The Preparatory Art Therapy Counseling undergraduate programs are designed to meet one or more of these requirements.

Preparatory Art Therapy:
Bachelor’s Degree

Individuals without a bachelor's degree may choose to enroll in one of three Preparatory Art Therapy undergraduate programs:

  • BA in Art
  • BA in Psychology
  • BA in Interdisciplinary Studies

Each program is designed to prepare students for graduate-level studies in Art Therapy Counseling. See the appropriate department for details on degree requirements.

Post-baccalaureate Preparatory Art Therapy Program

Individuals who hold a bachelor's degree yet do not meet the minimum requirements in art and psychology may enroll in the Post-baccalaureate Art Therapy Track program. The customized curriculum is designed to help the student complete prerequisite coursework for the master's program. It may also include introductory art therapy classes. Contact the Art Therapy Counseling Department for more information and a transcript evaluation.

Summer Workshops

Persons exploring art therapy as a possible career option are welcome to enroll in summer workshops. A background in psychology and the art form are the only prerequisites.
