Arts & EventsOn any given day, Marylhurst students will find enriching activities in the form of visual, literary and performing arts events. Events are held in attractive, comfortable settings such as St. Anne's Chapel, the Marylhurst Bookstore and Wiegand Lecture & Recital Hall. Students have opportunities to showcase their own talents as well as learn from established artists, authors and musicians visiting the campus. The Art GymSince 1980, The Art Gym at Marylhurst University has worked to increase public understanding of the Northwest's finest contemporary art. For Marylhurst visitors, the gallery is a bridge to the ideas of the artists working in the Portland region. Binford Reading SeriesThe Binford series brings nationally acclaimed fiction writers, essayists and poets to the Marylhurst University campus for classroom visits and readings. More about the Binford Reading Series Mayer Art BuildingIn addition to housing art classes and studios, the Mayer Art Building serves as an exhibit space — inside and out. The lobby serves as the Mayer Gallery, where works by faculty, students and guest artists are displayed. Sculptures and installation works grace the lawn outside. M ReviewWith guidance from a faculty advisor, students plan, manage and execute all aspects of this online literary journal. M Review is an annual publication of literary fiction, social and literary criticism, memoir, poetry and visual art by members of the Marylhurst community. More about M Review Streff GalleryStreff Gallery, located in Shoen Library, serves as a lounge and meeting place and displays month-long exhibits of a variety of art forms.
