Jerry taught chemistry and was science department chairman at West Linn High School for more than 20 years. He has conducted many science workshops and classes for all levels of K-12 teachers through the Math Learning Center and Portland State University.

In addition to teaching at Marylhurst, he has taught science education courses at the University of Portland and Lewis & Clark College. Jerry is a past president of the Oregon Science Teachers' Association and a member of the National Science Teachers' Association.
