About
Michelle Stoklosa grew up in western Pennsylvania and attended Franklin & Marshall College in eastern Pennsylvania where she received a bachelor's degree in biology, with a minor in geosciences.
She then attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she earned both her MS and Ph.D. in geology, specializing in carbonate sedimentology, with the primary interest of using the arrangement and composition of limestone layers in the rock record to tell about Earth's past environments.
She and her husband decided to move to Portland, where they believe that they can live a more sustainable lifestyle. As a geologist she finds Portland a great place to observe some very dramatic geologic features given the proximity of the Cascades, the Willamette and Columbia Rivers and the Pacific Ocean.
She is currently teaching part time in the sciences at Marylhurst University, Portland State University, Clark College, Clackamas Community College, and the University of Phoenix.
