About

Lillieth Grand has been a music therapist since 1993 when she graduated from the University of Kansas after completing her internship at Lanterman Developmental Center in Southern California. She is a sensory integration specialist and has extensive experience working with infants, children, teens, and young adults. Her primary populations include: brain injury, neurological impairment, autism, developmental disabilities, pain, and chronic health issues. She also loves providing early childhood music programs.

Having a master's degree in Special Education (1997) has influenced her experience, knowledge base, and effectiveness. Most of her experience has been in private practice, but she has also worked for a major children's hospital and a developmental center for adults with developmental disabilities.

Lillieth is a master trainer for Sound Birthing training music therapists how to implement Music Therapy Assisted Childbirth and Creative Arts Birthing Classes. She also trains birth professionals and mothers-to-be how to effectively include music in birthing.

Currently, Lillieth owns and runs Milestone Music Therapy, a private practice in Tualatin, Oregon. One third of her clients choose to be reimbursed by their medical insurance for music therapy services. You can find her practice at www.milestone-musictherapy.com.

Lillieth has served the Western Region of the American Music Therapy Association (www.wramta.org) in various elected roles consistently since 1995, including President. Currently, she is Vice President, Conference Chair, and Assembly Delegate. She has also held many appointed positions within WRAMTA and AMTA over the years. Lillieth has presented at nearly every national and regional conference for over 20 years.

A mother of three boys, lover of partner dancing, avid cook, and very social person, Lillieth keeps herself busy. Having one child with neurological impairment, cognitive deficits, and physical limitations and one child with anxiety and depression gives her added depth of knowledge and empathy. She shares her experiences with students openly giving them a glimpse of what it is to have a disabled family member.

She is passionate about the education of future music therapists and has been supervising and/or teaching students since 1994.
