About

Clarinetist Igor Shakhman has been seen in recitals, chamber music concerts and concerto appearances throughout Russia, Ukraine, Switzerland, France, Greece, Germany and the USA.

As an orchestral clarinetist, Igor has collaborated with the Colorado and Oregon Symphony Orchestras, Oregon Ballet Orchestra, Colorado Opera Orchestra, Russian State Symphony Orchestra and the chamber orchestras of Moscow Virtuosi and Moscow Stars. He has performed under the batons of George Solti, Michael Tilson-Thomas, Gerard Shwarz, Carlos Kalmar, Mstislav Rostropovich, Evgeny Svetlanov, Gennadi Rozhdestvenski, Vladimir Spivakov and Yuri Bashmet among others.

As a chamber musician and soloist, Igor has participated in several international music festivals in Oregon, Colorado, France, Greece, Russia and Switzerland.

In demand as a teacher and clinician, Igor has presented master classes and workshops around the world, most recently at the University of Maryland, The Kharkov Conservatory and The Shenandoah Conservatory.

Igor has participated in two critically acclaimed Broadway tours: the first national tour of Oklahoma! as a principal clarinetist and on-stage soloist and the North American tour of Fiddler on the Roof.

In addition to teaching clarinet at Marylhurst University, Igor also holds the principal clarinet position with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and is the Oregon state chair for the International Clarinet Association.

Igor's teachers have included: Vladimir Sokolov, Bil Jackson, Steve Barta, Ted Oien and Joaquin Valdepenas.
