Melissa Hanks received an MA in applied anthropology from Oregon State University and a BA in anthropology from the University of Oregon. She has previously taught human evolution, human osteology and applied Native American cultural studies.
Hanks works full time as a senior policy analyst for the Oregon Health Authority. Her current research interests include health insurance policy and planning, health and social inequality, poverty studies, rural studies, business and organizational anthropology and ethics in social research.
