Herb Long learned to fly when he was 16. Since then he has served in the U.S. Marine Corps, the United Presbyterian Church, USA, held academic and administrative positions at Harvard University Divinity School, University of Hawaii, the East West Center, Honolulu, and the Labo International Foundation, Tokyo, Japan. In 1983 he opened his psychotherapy practice in Honolulu and in 1987 began studying with Arnold Mindell, the founder of Process Work. In 1990 he moved to the Northwest and was one of the founders of the Process Work Institute of Portland. He is presently Chairman of the Institute's Board of Directors and in addition to teaching at Marylhurst, he teaches at the Process Work Institute. He is also in private practice as a process work therapist. In addition to his Th.D., he is a diplomate in Process Work from the Research Society for Process Oriented Psychology, Zurich, Switzerland and the Process Work Institute, Portland, Oregon. Semi retired, he moved to Ashland, OR in 2008.
