BA in Human Studies

We are constantly evolving and being changed by the environments we live in. Marylhurst offers a unique degree program that explores what it means to be "human."

The Bachelor of Arts in Human Studies program draws upon a number of disciplines, including psychology, sociology, philosophy, religion, ethics, communication and environmental science. You'll explore connections among human and non-human systems, and learn how these systems organize, relate and evolve.

Our human studies graduates have a greater intellectual awareness of relationships with themselves and with others. We'll help you reach your personal, professional and educational goals by helping you:

  • Explore how humans learn, adapt and develop over the course of their lives
  • Discover the dynamic interconnections among mind, body and spirit
  • Understand how complex relationships must be a seen in a variety of contexts, from individual and cultural to ecological and historical
