Joan Maiers' work has been published in books, anthologies and periodicals and nominated for a Pushcart Press Prize. More than 50 of her poems appear in journals and magazines, such as the Oregon English Journal, Journal of Pastoral Care, Sojourners, Seattle Review, Honoring Our Rivers, Calyx and Windfall. She also edits manuscripts for prospective authors and arranges for local writers to present their work. She directs off-campus workshops for writers of various ages and hosts the Moonstruck Literary Series.
At Marylhurst, Joan serves as faculty liaison for the Marylhurst Writers' Club. She has particpated in committee work, including the Friends of Shoen Library Board and Institutional Self-Study Committee. She coordinated the Binford Speaker Series from 2000-2004 and served as liaison with Oregon Literary Coalition from 2003-2007.
