Training & Development Concentration

If you are engaged or interested in designing learning for adults, delivering training, consulting or coaching for improved personal performance, this concentration is for you. We have designed the curriculum around competencies established by the American Society of Training and Development (ASTD) Competency Model for Learning and Performance.*

CONCENTRATION REQUIREMENTS (24 crs.)

Foundation Courses (6 crs.)

Principles of Instructional Design
Helping Adults Learn

Techniques Courses (9 crs.)

Assessing the Impact: Measuring & Evaluating Learning from Training
Designing Creative Training
Blended Learning Strategies & Best Practices

Professional Application Courses (9 crs.)

Choose three courses from one of the following focus areas:

Training Design & Delivery
Professional Presentations: Advanced Techniques for Speakers
Team Building: Managing Work Groups
Professional Development Seminars
Topic: Training Program Methods & Strategies
Topic: E-Learning/Training Technologies
Topic: Connecting Training to Organizational Development
Other relevant coursework may be substituted with adviser approval.

Human Performance (Coaching)
Leadership Communication
Topic: Independent Consulting Practices
Topic: Performance Improvement Tools & Techniques
Topic: Coaching Foundations
Topic: Life Coaching & Mentoring
Other relevant coursework may be substituted with adviser approval.
