Marylhurst University Announces 2008 Degree Candidates

Marylhurst University will hold its 114th Commencement ceremonies on Saturday, June 21, 10 a.m. at the Oregon Convention Center. This year, Marylhurst University will graduate 360 students, 180 with master's degrees and 180 with bachelor's degrees.

Second Annual Irish Language Immersion Day

An Irish Language Immersion Day—for fluent speakers and absolute beginners—will introduce the delights of the Irish language during courses and workshops at Marylhurst University on Saturday, May 31 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Registration deadline is May 28, 2008. 2008 Bachelor of Fine Arts Thesis Exhibition at Marylhurst University

Marylhurst University opens the 2008 Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) Thesis Exhibition with a Preview Reception in The Art Gym from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, May 28. The 2008 Bachelor of Fine Arts Thesis Exhibition presents work by nine BFA candidates: Nathan Boyer, Rhonda Forsberg, Kathy Gredzens, Sarah La Du, Peter F. Qualliotine, Claire Strickland, Sharon Elaine Thompson, Rieko Warrens and Christy L. Weigel. The exhibition includes sculpture, photography, mixed media works, printmaking and painting. The thesis candidates will give a Gallery Talk at noon, Tuesday, June 3. The exhibition continues through June 22.

Creative Arts Day Camp for Children with Special Needs

A six-day Creative Arts Day Camp designed for children with special needs such as learning challenges and autistic spectrum will be held at Marylhurst University from July 14 to July 19. Marylhurst University Selects Judith Johansen as New President

The Marylhurst University Board of Trustees today announced the selection of Judith Johansen, J.D. as the university's 13th president. Johansen will take the helm on July 1, 2008 from the current president Nancy Wilgenbusch, who is retiring after 24 years of service to the institution.

Business Leaders to Speak About the Economics of Sustainability

Chris Van Dyke, CEO of the Portland-based green outdoor apparel company Nau, will speak about The Economics of Sustainability at Marylhurst University’s networking breakfast on Saturday, May 10 from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Three Northwest business leaders in sustainability will join Van Dyke from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for the Sustainable Business Practices and Real Results seminar. Handmade Musical Instrument Artisans to Gather at Marylhurst

Sitelines: Jenene Nagy and Stephanie Robison

Two new exhibitions will open at The Art Gym, Marylhurst University, with a preview reception on Sunday, April 13. Sitelines in The Art Gym's main space is a two-person exhibition with new work by Jenene Nagy and Stephanie Robison. In The Art Gym's Gallery 2 Jesse Hayward is presenting the changing installation WHY AND THE WHY NOT. The exhibitions continue through May 14. Admission is free.
