Letter from the President

For more than a century, Marylhurst University has been dedicated to delivering academic excellence in an environment that supports student success. As Marylhurst’s president since 2008, I’m honored to help build on this tradition of excellence, and enhance our university’s ability to serve all students who wish to enrich their personal and professional lives.

Students come to Marylhurst for many reasons, but our size and our people are key. Marylhurst’s small, seminar-style classes provide individual attention in a powerful learning setting. Our faculty members are recognized leaders in their fields. They are managers, marketers, entrepreneurs, published writers, artists, scientists and accomplished scholars. Each brings practical, tested experience to the classroom.

We offer classes during the day, in the evenings, on the weekends and online, so that students can schedule courses around their busy lives. Our accelerated online programs provide an additional option to streamline studies.

Our founders, the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary, knew how important it is to educate the "whole" person. They created an engaging learning atmosphere at Marylhurst that fuels the imagination, broadens intellectual horizons and strengthens professional expertise. As we move forward in 2009 with an in-depth strategic planning process for the university, we’ll continue looking for ways to enhance the educational value we provide to our students. Our mission is to ensure students of all ages who are seeking the rewards of a college education can find support and success here.
