Marylhurst University Preparations for Flu Season

Marylhurst is taking every precaution to keep our campus a safe and healthy place during flu season.

We again will offer seasonal flu shots on campus on October 13 from 9 to 11 a.m. Please call Human Resources at 503.699.6256 to schedule an appointment for your shot. Note that these vaccines will not prevent against H1N1 flu.

Hand sanitizers will be placed in classrooms and student service areas, and we encourage you to use them.

We ask that if you are ill, do not come to campus:

If you are a student, please contact your instructor to let him/her know you are sick and arrange options for you to make up your class work
If you are a faculty member, please contact your department chair so that appropriate arrangements can be made for a substitute instructor for any classes you may miss
If you are a staff member, please contact your supervisor to let her/him know you are sick

Because of the unusual circumstances posed by the spreading of the H1N1 virus, we are taking some extra steps to ensure staff are accommodated:

If your child’s school or daycare center/provider closes and you must stay home to care for your child, you may use sick leave to cover your time off
Staff members who are out of sick leave will be advanced sick leave if they are:
     o Are sick with the flu
     o Need to stay home with children who are sick with the flu
     o Need to stay home due to school or daycare closures
