Laurey Maslyk Named Director of Garrett's Space

Excerpt from an article in the Wilsonville Spokesman, February 23, 2010.

A Wilsonville drop-in youth center took another step toward reality with the hiring of Laurey Maslyk as executive director.

She will support the Garrett’s Space board in achieving its mission to create a facility that enriches the lives of youth and young adults by providing the community with resources and tools to support them in self-discovery.

This will include a coffee/juice bar, job and volunteer board, mentorship opportunities and workshops on job-seeking skills, financial education and life skills.

Maslyk brings more than 20 years of business management, marketing and nonprofit industry expertise to her role as executive director. She has a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s of business administration from Marylhurst University.

"This type of organization has been needed in this area for quite some time," Maslyk said. "It will be a safe place the youth of our community can go and feel comfortable, while participating in workshops our schools can no longer offer."

Maslyk will be responsible for overall management and operation of Garrett’s Space, including providing leadership in development of the facility, organizational and financial plans, growing and diversifying funding sources, and ensuring that facility and programs are aligned with the Garrett’s Space mission.
