Journal Publishes Review
by Christine Korb

Christine Korb's book review on Music: Promoting Health and Creating Community in Health-care Contexts appears in the February issue of The Arts in Psychotherapy journal.

In her review, Korb writes:

The initial impulse for this book was sparked by a gathering of seventeen music therapits from eight countries following their involvement in a symposium on Music and Health at the University of Limerick, Ireland, in September 2005. While music as therapy or as an arts health practice in hospital based services provides the primary themes for the majority of the chapters, most of the authors additionally address the essential components of research and evaluation of the music processes within their richly descriptive narratives. ...

In closing, what strikes this reviewer as an underlying theme reading throughout the various chapters is the bounty of true dedication, a depth of caring, and a particular wisdom of action emanating from each one of the professionals involved. If these qualities of humanistic professionalism were an underlying intention of this work, then it was definitely achieved.
