John Paul to Appear on AM Northwest

On Friday, May 1, John Paul, the Joseph Naumes Endowed Chair of Marylhurst University’s Department of Music, will appear on KATU's morning talk show, AM Northwest, along with director James Ivory. They will talk about the 10-day Oregon Sesquicentennial Film Festival at Marylhurst University.

Paul will talk about the screening of F.W. Murnau's City Girl (1930) on Friday, May 8. The screening will feature Paul conducting a chamber ensemble composed of members of the Oregon Symphony and Fear No Music, performing his brand new score to this once lost silent film.

James Ivory will be featured the first two nights of the film festival. On May 1, he'll join Gus Van Sant for an engaging onstage conversation about the collaborative relationship between directors and screenwriters and show clips from his films. On May 2, the 1965 film that launched Ivory's career, Shakespeare Wallah, will be screened.
