Clark Plaza DedicationThe newly constructed Clark Plaza was dedicated on May 19, 2008 by Bishop Kenneth Steiner in a festive ceremony with President Nancy Wilgenbusch as Master of Ceremonies. An ensemble of faculty and students from Marylhurst's Music Department provided music for the event. With the addition of brick pathways, flowering shrubs, trees and tables, Clark Plaza creates a beautiful new outdoor study and lounge area for the entire Marylhurst communitystudents, staff and faculty. Marylhurst is grateful to Mary Clark Frisbee and her family whose generous donation made this possible. In blessing the new plaza, Bishop Steiner asked: "May Clark Plaza give to all who look upon it, and who rest in its serenity, the gift of life-renewing beauty." Clark Plaza is part of Marylhurst's Renaissance Campaign. The $20 million campaign preserves the University's historic buildings, harmonizes new structures, renovates essentials such as heating and cooling systems, expands campus safety and security features and equips classrooms with technologies for dynamic multimedia learning. Friends of Marylhurst will have until July 7, 2008, to help celebrate their relationship with Marylhurst as the Renaissance Campaign comes to a close. Donors may "buy a brick" to help pave the paths connecting the new Clark Plaza with Clark Commons, BP John Administration Building, Shoen Library and St. Anne's Chapel. Antique lamp posts are being placed along the new paths. Support of a brick at $100 or lamp post at $500 is a lasting reminder of one's connection with Marylhurst University.
