Simeon Dreyfuss Presents at International Conference

Simeon Dreyfuss, interdisciplinary studies department chair, presented at the Association of Interdisciplinary Studies international conference in Ohio in November 2013.

Dreyfuss led two sessions:

An Interdisciplinary Sustainability Program

Those committed to interdisciplinary and integrative learning believe that solutions to 21st century issues and problems are necessarily complex and require processes that embrace complexity. Marylhurst University's BA in Interdisciplinary Studies houses a concentration in sustainability studies that combines perspectives from environmental science, business, communication studies, human science, cultural studies, philosophy, literature and religious studies, along with a focused application of the student's own choosing.

Open Mic: Artistic Responses to Scientific Themes

This open mike session explored artistic forms for scientific insights. Attendees shared poems, personal essays, short videos, images and other creative responses to scientific themes.

Simeon Dreyfuss is the chair of the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies and director of the Liberal Arts Core program at
Marylhurst University.
