Natalie Serber, English faculty, published a review of Eliza Robertson's Wallflowers in The New York Times' Book Review section in October 2014.
In October 2012, Waterstone Gallery presents Memory and Reflection, an exhibition of new mixed media pieces by Marylhurst alum Kelly Orr.
The exhibition runs October 3 through 28. The gallery will host a reception on First Thursday, October 4, from 6 to 9 p.m., and an artist talk on Sunday, October 21 at 11 a.m.
About her show Kelly writes: "I have been exploring the idea of memory; what creates them, our reflections of them, and our relationship to them. Through the landscape of dream... memories are layered with illusion. Upon reflection they potentially have different meaning(s), perhaps an alternate truth. Experiences can appear completely different through the lens of remembrance. Working through abstraction, this work echoes the landscape built and natural. It plays with it through reflection, real or imagined. It is about moving beyond abstraction, simulation, while still hanging onto a thread of experience."
Waterstone Gallery is located in Portland's Pearl District, at 424 NW 12th Avenue, between Flanders and Glisan.
